Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the ZDX Type S’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Polestar 3 (275/40R22 vs. 265/45R21).
The Acura ZDX’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Polestar 3 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.
The ZDX has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Polestar 3 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.
Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the ZDX can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Polestar 3 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.
Suspension and Handling
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the ZDX’s wheelbase is 4.3 inches longer than on the Polestar 3 (121.8 inches vs. 117.5 inches).
For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the ZDX is .3 inches wider in the front and 1.1 inches wider in the rear than on the Polestar 3.
Chassis
The Acura ZDX may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 300 pounds less than the Polestar 3.
Cargo Capacity
The ZDX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Polestar 3 with its rear seat up (29.7 vs. 17.1 cubic feet). The ZDX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Polestar 3 with its rear seat folded (63 vs. 50 cubic feet).
Towing
The ZDX’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Polestar 3’s (3500 vs. 0 pounds).
Ergonomics
Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the ZDX to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Polestar 3 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.
The ZDX’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Polestar 3’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.
Model Availability
The ZDX is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Polestar 3 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
