Compare the2025 Acura ZDXVS 2025 Honda Prologue

Both the ZDX and Prologue have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The ZDX has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Prologue’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the ZDX and the Prologue have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Acura ZDX is safer than the Honda Prologue:

The ZDX comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Prologue’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The ZDX’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Prologue are solid, not vented.

The ZDX stops much shorter than the Prologue:

For better traction, the ZDX has larger standard tires than the Prologue (265/50R20 vs. 255/60R19).

The ZDX A-Spec’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Prologue’s standard 60 series tires. The ZDX Type S’ tires have a lower 40 series profile than the Prologue Elite’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the ZDX A-Spec has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Prologue. The ZDX Type S’ 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels on the Prologue Elite.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the ZDX can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. Self-sealing tires aren’t available on some tire packages on the Prologue.

The ZDX offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Prologue’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The ZDX’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Prologue’s (54% to 46%). This gives the ZDX more stable handling and braking.

The ZDX Type S handles at .85 G’s, while the Prologue Elite pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The ZDX Type S executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2 seconds quicker than the Prologue Elite (25.1 seconds @ .75 average G’s vs. 27.1 seconds @ .64 average G’s).

The ZDX has 8.5 inches more front hip room, 11.9 inches more rear hip room and .4 inches more rear shoulder room than the Prologue.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the ZDX’s rear seats recline. The Prologue’s rear seats don’t recline.

The ZDX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Prologue with its rear seat up (29.7 vs. 25.2 cubic feet). The ZDX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Prologue with its rear seat folded (63 vs. 57.7 cubic feet).

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the ZDX’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Prologue doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The ZDX’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Prologue’s (3500 vs. 1500 pounds).

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the ZDX uses the Vehicle Stability Assist sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Prologue doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Acura service is better than Honda. J.D. Power ranks Acura 6th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 4% lower rating, Honda is ranked 7th.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat in the Prologue Touring/Elite, the ZDX Type S has a passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The ZDX’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Prologue’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The ZDX’s headlights were rated “Good” by the IIHS, while the Prologue’s headlights are rated “Acceptable.”

When the ZDX is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Prologue’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Acura ZDX has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the Prologue Elite.

Both the ZDX and the Prologue have standard heated front seats. The ZDX Type S also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Prologue.

The ZDX has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the Prologue Elite.

The ZDX Type S’ Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Prologue doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
